Vintage 1930s 40s Silk Gown Lingere Negliee by Ro Jene

This is a beautiful vintage 1930s to 1940s full length nightgown lingerie. It has a designer tag that says "Tailored by Ro Jene". The gown is I believe silk - at least it feels and looks like it, but there is not an identifying tag. The neck and bodice have trim with an ivory background melon and red circles and green x's with red centers. The trim is scalloped along the edges. The bodice is gathered in between the rows of trim. There are 4 mother of pearl buttons that are at the upper front. The gown is the last one that I have from a deceased estate that had a fabulous honeymoon trouseaux of lingerie. The gown is ivory in color. It is in really good condition - the only mark that I can find is a half of an inch yellow pencil mark below the knee area. It may come out, but I have not tried to clean it. There is one 1 to 2 millimeter spot near the left shoulder that is a tiny wear hole. It can be mended to keep from spreading and is not noticeable. Otherwise the gown is in extremely good condition. It is 54 inches long and has a mermaid tail hem, where there where sections of material sewn in on both sides at the hem, so that it flares out and flows when you walk. The Ginger Rogers movies of the early 30s often had her do her dance scenes with formal gowns that had mermaid tail hems. The gowns measurements are 37 - 31 - 40, which are a modern size 10.
